Letter from the President

Jacob Woodyard, President
Welcome to the Pi Pentaton Chapter at Northern Illinois University!  I along with my fraternity brothers, are pleased that you have decided to learn more about the many contributions that we make at NIU. From the Hope Haven Christmas party for homeless families and the competitive TUGS tournament, our brothers gain knowledge in many ways while still managing to enjoy every minute.  We consider ourselves “Damn Proud” of being brothers of Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity and we believe that as you take an interest you will be too!
As Chapter President, I can confidently tell you that Phi Sigma Kappa is alive and well at Northern Illinois University.  Our chapter is currently the largest fraternity on NIU’s campus. This enables us to effectively give back to the DeKalb community during the many philanthropy and community service events we organize.
For our many prospective members, a large part of the Phi Sig Advantage begins during your first eight weeks as a new member.  As a group, each member will complete ten community service hours and maintain an academic Grade Point Average (GPA) above the all men’s average at NIU.  At the same time, our membership never forgets its commitment to Scholarship, one of our Cardinal Principles, by requiring each new member to complete at least four hours of library study each week.  In addition, our scholarship chairman is always helping members find others that can tutor in areas they may be struggling in.  Ultimately, not only does the New Member Process involve huge opportunities for growth, leadership, and learning, it helps each young man have a strong, highly-principled support system to ensure a successful collegiate experience.  I can say confidently that there is no other organization quite as distinguished and selective as Phi Sigma Kappa at NIU and we look forward to welcoming our newest brothers into our chapter every semester.
On behalf of all our brothers at Northern Illinois University, we thank you for your interest in the Pi Pentaton Chapter of Phi Sigma Kappa at NIU.  As president, I welcome any of your questions.  In addition, I would love to tell you more about our new member education program as it is a very unique element of fraternity not found elsewhere at NIU.  Lastly, I welcome all potential new members and their families to schedule a time to visit our chapter home.  Go Huskies!
Best Regards!
